Schmersal Safety Interlock Switch, 2NC, Key Lock - AZ17 Series - AZ 17-02ZRK

Choose this safety interlock switch from Schmersal for securing your protective gratings, access doors, gates and hinged covers. It has two normally closed, positive-opening contacts and will provide a significantly higher level of safety than conventional spring-driven switches with contacts that can weld or stick shut. The unit consists of a robust switch mechanism and a geometrically-unique actuating key mounted onto the movable guard. When the guard is opened, the normally-closed contacts are forced open by the actuating key, ensuring the circuit is interrupted and the machine stops.

Features and Benefits

• IP (ingress protection) rating of 67 means it's dust-tight and water-resistant

• Operating temperature range of -30°C to +80°C for extreme environments

• Durable housing material made from thermoplastic reinforced with glass fibre

Application Information

• Security systems

• Machine access panels

• Assembly lines

What is a positive-opening contact?

A positive-opening contact means that normally closed contacts don't depend on spring tension alone to open them, but are mechanically forced apart by direct pressure from the actuator (key). If the contacts stick together as a result of arcing or another failure, the actuator will force them apart.
