3M Adhesive-Backed/PSA Sanding Disc, 203mm Disc Diameter, 80 Grit size - 7100287535

This adhesive-backed/PSA sanding disc is a net-backed abrasive designed for general sanding, stock removal and surface preparation across multiple substrates. It combines a blend of shaped ceramic and aluminium oxide mineral on a ventilated backing to enable dust extraction when used with a compatible support pad and vacuum. The hook-and-loop attachment Interface is integrated into the net for Rapid disc changes during production or maintenance tasks.

Features & Benefits

• Precision shaped ceramic grain delivers Faster cut rates
• Net backing enables efficient dust extraction during sanding
• Patterned coating reduces loading for longer working periods
• Hook-and-loop Interface permits Rapid disc replacement
• Resin bond maintains abrasive distribution under load

Applications

• Suitable for automotive sanding and paint preparation workflows
• Ideal for metal finishing and deburring in mechanical workshops
• Can be used for composite and gelcoat surface preparation
• Used with extraction-equipped orbital tools for dust control
• Suitable for intermediate and finish sanding of wood and fillers

What abrasive composition is used and how does it affect cutting?

The abrasive is a blend of aluminium oxide and 3M’s precision shaped ceramic grain which improves material removal rates while maintaining a consistent scratch pattern.

How should the discs be stored to preserve performance?

Keep them in their original box at 16°C to 26°C and 35 to 50% relative humidity on a first-in to first-out basis to avoid premature degradation.

What operating speeds are relevant for safe use?

Maximum orbital speeds vary with disc diameter

for the 203mm version the safe maximum is 6,000opm when used with the appropriate backing pad.

How does the net construction interact with extraction systems?

The ventilated backing allows dust to pass through into a supporting vacuum system, reducing clogging and improving visibility and life of the abrasive.

What attachment method is provided for compatibility with tool pads?

The loops for attachment are integrated into the net and are designed to mate with Hookit™ hook-and-loop pads for secure fitting.
