3M Adhesive-Backed/PSA Sanding Disc, 203mm Disc Diameter, 220 Grit size - 7100287827

This adhesive-backed/PSA sanding disc is a net-backed abrasive designed for general-purpose sanding, stock removal, surface preparation and finish work across multiple substrates. It combines a blended mineral abrasive with a precision-shaped ceramic grain on a perforated backing to enable dust extraction when used with a compatible backing pad and vacuum system. The hook-and-loop-compatible attachment system allows Rapid disc changes on production lines and in workshops.

Features & Benefits

• Precision-shaped ceramic grain reduces loading and maintains cut
• Pattern-coated abrasive improves finish and extraction performance
• Net backing enables effective dust capture with vacuum systems
• Hook-and-loop compatible for fast, tool-free disc changes
• Blend of aluminium oxide and ceramic for sustained stock removal
• Designed for up to 6,000 opm for robust orbital sanding applications

Applications

• Suitable for bodywork sanding where dust extraction is required
• Ideal for scuffing and paint preparation on metal panels
• Can be used for intermediate sanding of composites and gelcoat
• Used for surface preparation prior to priming and painting
• Suitable for sanding tasks in automated finishing cells with vacuum extraction

What backing is used to aid dust control during sanding?

The product uses a net-style backing that allows airflow through the disc to a vacuum-connected backing pad, improving particle removal at the source.

Which abrasive minerals are combined in the coating?

The coating is a blend of aluminium oxide with a proprietary precision-shaped ceramic grain to balance cut rate and abrasive life.

How should the discs be stored to preserve performance?

Store in their original box at 16°C to 26°C and 35 to 50% relative humidity, using a first-in, first-out rotation to maintain shelf life.

How does the attachment system affect changeover speed?

Integrated loops in the backing pair with a hook-and-loop pad, enabling quick, repeatable disc swaps without aligning extraction holes.

What operating limitation should users note for high-speed sanders?

The disc construction is rated for typical orbital speeds up to 6,000 opm

users should match tool speed to this envelope for safe operation.
