Fluke Earth Tester, ±1.5% Accuracy, 15h Battery Life - FLUKE-1630-2

This earth tester is a clamp-style instrument for measuring earth/ground loop resistance and AC leakage current without disconnecting parallel grounds. It is intended for indoor and outdoor use where auxiliary stakes cannot be placed, enabling Rapid assessment of earthing components in paved areas, inside buildings or on power pylons. The instrument is battery-powered and pairs wirelessly with a mobile app to Record and store measurements and location data.

Features & Benefits

• Dual-clamp stakeless measurement eliminates auxiliary stakes and saves time
• ±1.5% accuracy on low-resistance ranges for precise loop readings
• True RMS leakage current measurement across a 40 Hz–1 kHz frequency range
• Stores a minimum of 32,760 logged readings for long-term data capture
• User-defined alarm thresholds enable Rapid pass/fail evaluation
• Band-pass filter reduces noise to improve leakage current clarity

Applications

• Suitable for commissioning and troubleshooting multi-grounded earthing systems
• Ideal for maintenance checks on substations and overhead pylons
• Used for on-site verification of equipment earthing in paved facilities
• Can be used for leakage current surveys on electrical distribution networks

What power source and runtime can I expect in the field?

It runs on four AA alkaline cells and delivers more than 15 hours of operation under typical ground resistance test conditions with the backlight and RF off.

How large a conductor can the clamp accept and what environmental protection exists?

The jaw accommodates conductors up to approximately 40mm diameter and meets IP30 ingress protection with the jaw closed.

How does the wireless system enhance Record keeping?

The wireless link transmits measured values, GPS coordinates and images to a Cloud service for association with assets and work orders, reducing manual transcription.

Which safety and measurement categories does it conform to?

It is rated to CAT IV 600V and CAT III 1000V for measurement applications and meets relevant IEC/EN standards.

What measurement resolution and overload indication are provided?

The display is a 9999-count LCD with a refresh rate of 4/s and indicates overload conditions with an OL message.
