An overcurrent is a condition where the supply current to a circuit is higher than its normal operating current. This could be due to an overload or a short circuit.

As the fuse allows for the starting surge of a motor its full load current must not exceed the lesser of the dual current rating. e.g. 20 M25 must not have a continuous load of greater than 20A.
