A PC power supply is created specifically to be used with that computer, whereas these units can be interchanged, providing the technical specifications of the appliance meet the PSU's in terms of safety and usability. This item in particular is generally for industrial use where items to be used meet the output specification.

The main purpose of a desktop power supply is predominantly for laptops. However, you should check the appliance or item will accept the output electrical specifications and connector type.
