3M Adhesive-Backed/PSA Sanding Disc, 127mm Disc Diameter, 180 Grit size - 7100288231

This adhesive-backed/PSA sanding disc is a net-backed abrasive designed for general-purpose sanding, stock removal, scuffing and surface preparation across a range of substrates. It combines a blend of precision-shaped ceramic grain and aluminium oxide mineral on a net backing that allows dust extraction when used with a compatible backing pad and vacuum system. The Hookit™ style attachment enables Rapid disc changes without aligning extraction holes.

Features & Benefits

• Precision-shaped ceramic grain delivers Faster cut rates
• Net backing enables effective dust extraction with vacuum
• Pattern-coated abrasive reduces loading and improves finish
• Hookit loop Interface allows quick, tool-free disc changes
• Blend of Ceramics and aluminium oxide extends abrasive life

Applications

• Suitable for paint and primer removal on metal panels
• Ideal for preparation of composites and gelcoat surfaces
• Used for sanding fillers, sealers and putties in bodyshops
• Can be used for intermediate sanding of lacquers and clearcoats
• Suitable for stock removal on whitewood and general fabrication

What backing type is used and how does it aid extraction?

The disc uses a net backing that pairs with a supporting tool and vacuum to draw away dust through the abrasive structure.

Which mineral composition affects cutting performance?

A mix of aluminium oxide and a proprietary precision-shaped ceramic grain provides aggressive cutting and maintained cut rate.

How should the discs be stored to retain performance?

Keep in original packaging at 16°C to 26°C and 35 to 50% relative humidity using a first-in, first-out system to avoid shortened shelf life.

How do disc attachment and replacement work in practice?

Loops integrated into the net backing mate with a Hookit-style hook and loop pad, enabling fast disc swaps without hole alignment.

What operating speeds are relevant for safe use?

Maximum orbital speeds vary by disc diameter
