3M Adhesive-Backed/PSA Sanding Disc, 76.2mm Disc Diameter, 120 Grit size - 7100287828

This adhesive-backed/PSA sanding disc is a net-backed abrasive designed for general-purpose sanding, stock removal and surface preparation across multiple substrates in industrial settings. It pairs with a hook-and-loop backing system for Rapid disc changes and uses a hybrid abrasive blend to deliver controlled cut and finish while allowing dust extraction when used with a supporting tool and vacuum.

Features & Benefits

• Precision shaped ceramic grain for Faster cut rates and longevity
• Net backing enables efficient dust extraction with vacuum systems
• Hookit-compatible loops allow quick, tool-side disc changes
• Proprietary patterned coating reduces loading and improves finish
• Available in a range of grades to match process stages

Applications

• Suitable for scuffing and preparing primer and paint before repainting
• Ideal for removing filler, putty and surface sealers from components
• Can be used for finishing gelcoat and composite surfaces in production
• Suitable for intermediate sanding of whitewood and other timbers
• Used for abrading metal substrates prior to bonding or coating

What abrasive composition provides the cutting action?

A blend of aluminium oxide and a precision-shaped ceramic mineral delivers aggressive material removal with a balance between cut and life.

How should the discs be stored to maintain performance?

Store in the original box at 16°C to 26°C and 35 to 50% relative humidity on a first-in, first-out basis to minimise shelf-life reduction.

Which operating speeds are appropriate for different disc sizes?

Maximum orbits per minute vary by disc diameter

larger discs have lower maximum OPM compared with smaller sizes to suit respective backing and tool limits.

How does the net construction affect workplace dust control?

The open net backing permits airborne debris to be drawn through the disc into a vacuum, reducing surface dust and improving extraction efficiency.

Can these discs be supplied in non-standard sizes?

Alternative dimensions are available on request through make-to-order arrangements.
