3M Adhesive-Backed/PSA Sanding Disc, 76.2mm Disc Diameter, 240 Grit size - 7100287826

This adhesive-backed/PSA sanding disc is a coated net-disc designed for general sanding, stock removal, surface preparation and intermediate finishing across multiple substrates. It combines a patterned abrasive coating on an open net backing to enable dust extraction when used with an appropriate backing pad and vacuum system, and it attaches quickly via a hook-and-loop compatible looped net Interface for fast disc changes.

Features & Benefits

• Precision shaped ceramic grain delivers Faster cut rates and life
• Net backing enables effective dust extraction during sanding
• Patterned resin coating reduces loading and improves finish
• Blend of aluminium oxide and PSG mineral balances cut and durability
• Hook-and-loop compatible loops allow Rapid disc replacement
• Works across primers, paints, fillers and various metals

Applications

• Suitable for scuffing and surface prep on painted assemblies
• Ideal for removing material from composite panels and gelcoat
• Can be used for intermediate sanding of wood and whitewood components
• Used for smoothing fillers and putties during fabrication
• Suitable for abrasive operations on metal components in production

What backing system is required for dust extraction to work effectively?

A supporting sanding pad with matching net support and a vacuum extraction system are required to draw debris through the open net structure.

How should these discs be stored to preserve performance?

Keep them in their original box at 16°C to 26°C and 35 to 50% relative humidity on a first-in to first-out basis to avoid reduced shelf life.

Which abrasive composition is used and what benefit does it provide?

The coating combines aluminium oxide with a precision-shaped ceramic grain to provide a balance of cutting speed and resistance to wear in demanding operations.

What operational speeds are appropriate for comparable sizes?

Maximum orbital speeds vary by disc diameter

for small discs typical OPM limits are significantly higher than for larger diameters and must be matched to the tool’s specification.
