Festo YSR Series Shock Absorber, 20mm Stroke Length, 86mm Length - YSR-16-20-C, Numeric Part Number:24373

This shock absorber is a Compact pneumatic device designed to absorb kinetic impacts in automation and industrial systems, converting motion energy to protect machinery and reduce wear. It operates across a wide ambient temperature range and is suited to installations where repeated energy dissipation and short reset cycles are required.

Features & Benefits

• 30 J energy per stroke for effective single-impact damping
• 64,000 J energy per hour to handle high-frequency duty cycles
• Self-adjusting cushioning for consistent deceleration behaviour
• Max impact speed 3 m/s allowing safe deceleration of fast-moving parts
• Short and long reset times of 0.3 s and 1 s to suit cycle variations
• Corrosion resistance CRC2 enabling moderate industrial exposure

Applications

• Suitable for end-of-stroke cushioning on pneumatic actuators
• Ideal for automated pick-and-place stop controls
• Used with transfer systems requiring frequent impact absorption
• Can be used for protection of sensors and delicate assemblies
• Suitable for machine tool approaching or indexing operations

What mounting options are available for installation?

It is fitted using a lock-nut style mount to secure the absorber in line with the actuator or fixture.

How does the device behave after an impact in terms of residual energy?

Residual energy is limited to 0.16 J, minimising rebound and reducing secondary shocks.

What are the construction materials affecting durability?

The housing is steel with galvanised treatment, the piston rod is high-alloy steel, and Seals are NBR

components are free of copper and PTFE.

What operating force is required to reset the internal mechanism?

A reset force of 6 N is sufficient to return the absorber to its ready position.

Are there any environmental limits for safe operation?

It functions reliably within an ambient temperature range from -10 °C to 80 °C.
