SICK KTX Series Contrast Sensor, IP67, 13mm Maximum Detection - KTX-WP91141252ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ1

This contrast sensor detects marks and background differences for registration and detection tasks in industrial environments. It uses an RGB LED light source with selectable wavelengths to identify contrast or colour variations at short range, and is intended for panel mounting where robust ingress protection and a Compact form factor are required.

Features & Benefits

• 50kHz switching frequency enables high-speed detection for fast processes
• 13mm maximum sensing distance gives precise short-range detection
• PNP switching output supports direct integration with PLC inputs
• IP67 enclosure rating allows use in wet or dusty production areas
• 10.8 to 28.8 V DC supply tolerances permit flexible plant voltages
• 100mA maximum output current minimises power draw on control circuits

**Applications**

• Suitable for mark registration on high-speed web-handling systems
• Ideal for detecting printed contrast on packaging lines
• Used for colour-based sorting in material handling stations
• Can be used for position feedback on labelling and converting equipment

How is the sensor connected to control hardware?

It connects via a rotatable 5-pin M12 male connector that provides power, outputs and input functions for straightforward wiring to standard industrial controllers.

What teach-in methods are available for threshold setting?

Multiple teach modes are provided including 1-point, 2-point, dynamic and automatic teach-in to suit static, moving or colour-specific detection scenarios.

How does the device handle varying background reflectivity?

The RGB light source selects optimal emitted light automatically and the sensor offers light/dark switching with adjustable delay to maintain stable switching across differing surfaces.
