Fluke 2AC VoltALERT Non-Contact Voltage Detector

VoltALERT non-contact voltage tester is the new addition to this series by Fluke. Pocket-sized and easy to use, the 2AC tests for defective grounds and energized circuits. A glowing red tip lights up when in close proximity of where voltage is present, such as a terminal strips, power cords or outlet wires.

Two new features on this instrument allow the user to be always at the ready, using special low power circuitry to sustain battery life the 2AC is always on the go. An innovative battery check button also allows users to ensure the battery is in good condition. Finally a clip design optimises pocket and tool bag storage.

Features and Benefits:

• 200 - 1000V ac Voltage detection
• Battery check button
• Category IV – 1000 V overvoltage rated product for best in class user protection
• Rugged and reliable
• -10°C to 50 °C operating temperature

Frequently asked questions:

What is a non-contact voltage tester used for?
Voltage testers or detectors are used to check the flow of current through a circuit. They can be used to check safety, or to ensure equipment is functioning correctly. They can also test for the current strength, whether the circuit is grounded correctly or to ensure no current is flowing at all so that work can be begin on the circuit.

How do non-contact voltage testers work?
Also known as a voltage detector, voltage tester pens, sensors or test pens. They allow the user to test electrical conductors without touching them. Non-contact testers are the safest and easiest way to detect electric fields or voltage. Voltage testers utilise what is called capacitive coupling, the user holding the instrument provides a ground reference. The tester then detects changing electric field around the object or objects conducting an AC current. (Alternating current) Simply put, the user and the tester pen when near the electrical conductor will cause a small current to flow through the tester from the source, this is how it detects AC voltage.

Standards

Safety compliance
Meets IEC 61010-1:2001, UL 61010-1 (2nd ed.), CAN/CSA-C22.2 No. 61010-1-04, and ISA-82.02.01, Pollution Degree 2

FLUKE Non-Contact Voltage Tester, Pocket-Sized, Over 1 Year Battery Life - VoltAlert Series - FLK2AC/90-1000V

Looking for a signal-testing tool that fits right into your pocket? Choose this non-contact voltage tester from FLUKE. Thanks to its integrated clip design, you can hook it in place like a pen so it's always at hand. Its light-up tip tells you what you need to know in an instant, with a blue light for 'closer' and red for voltage. This saves time and hassle. A wide detection span between 90 and 1000V AC makes this a versatile workmate for light-duty to heavy-duty applications.

Features & Benefits

• Typical battery life of over one year for long-lasting performance
• Non-contact voltage detection boosts safety by eliminating the need to touch bare conductor wires
• Suitable for use in challenging settings thanks to an operating temperature range between -10°C and +50°C

Applications

• DIY applications
• Electrical workshops
• Robotics and automation systems

How does the battery check function work on this tester?

The battery check function tells you when you're running low on juice. When active, the red LED on the tester beeps twice every two seconds. When it stops beeping like this, you know it's time to change the battery.
