Honeywell 914CE Series Limit Switch, 12.2N Operating Force, IP66/IP67/IP68 - 914CE1-3A

This limit switch provides a compact, rugged electromechanical sensing solution for position detection in industrial systems. It employs a plunger actuator to register mechanical movement and outputs a single-pole double-throw contact change suitable for control and safety interlocks. The device is designed for side mounting and uses a cable termination for direct wiring into panels and machinery.

Features and Benefits:

• Metal enclosure rated for submersion and dust protection
• Snap-action contacts for crisp state change and repeatability
• Wide switching current range supporting varied loads
• High operating-temperature tolerance for heated environments
• Long mechanical life enhancing maintenance intervals
• Moderate operating force for reliable actuation with actuators

Applications

• Suitable for conveyor end-of-travel detection in manufacturing lines
• Ideal for limit sensing in automated packaging machinery
• Used with valves and actuators for position feedback in process plants
• Can be used for door monitoring on industrial enclosures
• Used for simple control logic in electrical switchgear panels

What environmental sealing does it provide for harsh installations?

The enclosure meets multiple ingress-protection ratings including IP66, IP67 and IP68, allowing resistance to dust, heavy spray and temporary or prolonged immersion depending on installation specifics.

How does it perform electrically with common control circuits?

It switches AC voltages up to 250V and handles currents from 0.2A to 5A, enabling direct interfacing with a variety of control relays, lamps and low-power actuators.

What thermal limits should be observed during installation?

The device operates up to a maximum temperature of 105°C and has a lower threshold of 0°C, so it should be sited where ambient conditions remain within that band.

What mechanical robustness can installers expect over its service life?

The mechanism is rated for 10 million operations, providing an extended duty cycle for repetitive actuation tasks.

How is it mounted and connected in typical assemblies?

It is designed for side-orientation mounting and uses a cable-type Terminal for straightforward field wiring into existing harnesses.

Approvals

UL, CSA.

Caution

Products in the 914CE series will only meet IP and NEMA standards when used in non-hazardous locations. They only satisfy the requirements when installed properly (as per instruction) and completely.

Warning

914CE limit switches are not emergency stop devices or safety devices. They must not be used in devices, applications and environments where injury can be incurred as a result of product failure.

Standards

IP Rating:
All models within the 914CE series meet IP65, IP66, IP67, IP68. This ensures that they are completely dust tight, offer protection against jets of water and can be immersed in water up to 3 m.

NEMA Rating:
Every 914CE limit switch also meets NEMA 1, 2, 3, 3R, 4, 6, 6P and 13 requirements.

Type 1: Allows for indoor use and offers a dregree of protection against access to harzardous parts by personnel. Enclosures that meet NEMA 1 also protect the enclosure against foreign solid obkects(such as indoor dirt).
Type 2: Allows for indoor use and provides a degree of protection against access to hazardous parts. The enclosures provide a degree of protection against foreign objects (such as falling dirt) and the ingress of water (light dripping or splashing).
Type 3: Allows for indoor or outdoor use and provides a degree of protection against access to hazardous parts. The enclosures provide some protection from foreign objects (such as windblown dust) and the ingress of water (such as rain or snow). Enclosures that meet NEMA 3 offer protection against ice forming externally.
Type 3R: Allows for indoor or outdoor use and provides a degree of protection against access to hazardous parts. The enclosures primarily provide ingress protection against water (such as rain, snow or sleet). Enclosures that meet NEMA 3 offer protection against ice forming externally.
Type 4: Allows for indoor or outdoor use and provides a degree of protection against access to hazardous parts. The enclosures provide some protection from foreign objects (such as falling dirt and windblown dust) and the ingress of water (such as rain, snow or sleet alongside splashing water and hose directed water). Enclosures that meet NEMA 3 offer protection against ice forming externally.
Type 6: Allows for indoor or outdoor use and provides a degree of protection against access to hazardous parts. The enclosures provide some protection from foreign objects (such as falling dirt and windblown dust) and the ingress of water (such as rain, snow or sleet alongside splashing water and hose directed water). Enclosures that meet NEMA 4 offer protection against ice forming externally.
Type 6P: Allows for indoor or outdoor use and provides a degree of protection against access to hazardous parts. The enclosures provide some protection from solid objects (such as falling dirt and windblown dust) and the ingress of water (such as hose directed water). Enclosures that meet the NEMA 6P requirement also offer protection against water when being submerged at a limited depth.
Type 13: Enclosures that meet Type 13 are suited to harsh environments. Enclosures can be used indoors and provide protection against access to hazardous parts. They offer protection against solid objects such as falling dirt, windblown dirt, fibres and lint. They provide a level of protection from dripping and splashing water and other liquids such as the splashing, seepage and spraying of oil and non-corrosive coolants.
