3M IDC Connector Plug, 64 Way, 2 Rows - 4600 Series - 4664-6000

Quickly and easily connect ribbon cable using this male IDC (insulation-displacement contact) connector from 3M. The shrouded design protects the pins, while open ends make daisy-chaining and bussing straightforward. As an ejector header connector, it enables quick disconnection. No stripping or preparation of the wires is necessary as the IDC mechanism uses a blade to slice through the insulation material on the wire and make an electrical connection with the conductor. The 2.54mm pitch is compatible with industry-standard 1.27mm pitch ribbon cable.

• Robust polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) housing provides long-lasting performance

• Operating temperature range of -55°C to +105°C makes it suitable for a wide range of demanding environments

• Gold-over-nickel-plated copper contacts resist corrosion and ensure accurate data transmission

Applications

• Computer networking

• Test and instrumentation equipment

• Medical industry

What do I need to consider when choosing an IDC connector?

There are three main considerations when choosing an IDC connector. First, what gender do you need – a male plug or female socket? Second, how many pins arranged in how many rows are suitable? Third, what pitch (the distance between each conductor) suits the wire you're using.

3M 2.54 x 2.54mm 4600 Series Cable Mount IDC Plugs

2.54 x 2.54mm 4600 series cable mount IDC plugs for use with flat ribbon cable or discrete wire with a wire size range of 26 and 28 AWG (solid and stranded). These 4600 series 2.54mm cable mount IDC plug connectors have a shrouded design for pin protection and open end covers that enable daisy chaining and bussing. Various polarization options are available for these 2.54mm 4600 series IDC ribbon cable plugs, please refer to datasheet on our website for details.
