It's used to verify that face masks are completely airtight by confirming that contaminants in the air can't sneak inside. This liquid is a breeze to use – simply inject it into a compatible test hood placed over a subject's head. If the user notices a bitter taste, the mask is no longer giving adequate protection.

What ingredients are used in this bitter test solution?


As well as water and sodium chloride (salt), the solution contains denatonium benzoate. This has a highly acrid taste, so you can be sure of consistent results. It's also non-toxic, so it poses no risk to the test subject if ingested.
