Cat5e can support faster and more reliable data transmission, typically of 1,000 Mbit/s or 1Gbit/s which is 10x the speed of regular Cat5 cables which is typically 10-100Mbits/s. Cat5e being the newer cable has improved interference/ crosstalk than Cat5.
