The 3M First Base + Bump Caps are designed to provide limited head protection from bumps and minor lacerations to the head from stationary objects. This offers industrial bump protection with their patented flexible shell design manufactured from durable ABS plastic and breathable woven fabric and foam with airflow channels for ventilation. The First Base + range have an adjustable elastic strap for a personal fit, and an absorbent terry toweling sweatband for added comfort. The safety bump caps also feature optional customisation areas where a brand name or logo can be added.

Although they are not as sturdy as hard hats or conventional safety helmets, the bump cap is capable of preventing minor injuries and is designed as a preventative against accidental bumping.
