Eaton Tag Fuse, 400A Current, 1500V Voltage - BSF-400G-3XL15-B

This tag fuse is a fast-acting battery storage protection device designed to isolate and interrupt fault currents in high-voltage battery arrays and combiners. It operates at system voltages used in large-scale battery installations and solar PV arrays and is MADE for mounting in compatible XL fuse bases or bolted/bladed holders to enable safe disconnection during reverse-current or multi-array faults.

Features & Benefits

• 1500V rating enabling use in high-voltage battery systems
• 400A nominal current for heavy-duty array protection
• Fast-acting characteristic reduces damage from short-duration faults
• High rupture capacity capable of interrupting severe fault currents
• Indicator feature provides clear open-circuit status
• Low power loss minimises thermal stress during normal operation

Applications

• Suitable for battery storage combiner protection in utility installations
• Ideal for solar PV string protection in 1500V systems
• used with XL fuse bases for array disconnect
• Can be used for reverse-current protection in multi-array systems

What mounting options are available for this product?

It is compatible with both bolted and bladed fixing arrangements and mates with specified XL fuse bases configured for knife-blade or bolted-blade links.

How does this component behave against high prospective currents?

It is designed with high rupturing capability and a measured breaking capacity able to deal with substantial prospective currents up to the published kA range for the family.

What electrical endurance characteristics are provided for fault events?

Time-response is geared to fast clearance of low overcurrents typical of faulted battery systems, with pre-arcing and total I2t parameters specified per rating to quantify let-through energy.

Which accessory options support status monitoring?

Microswitches are available for both knife-blade and bolted variants, enabling remote indication of fuse state without duplicating core performance data.
