Field Effect Rectifiers, STMicroelectronics

The FERD series of diodes from STMicroelectronics offer a unique trade-off between low forward voltage drop and low leakage current. A 30A Field Effect Rectifier device features a 25% reduction in forward voltage when compared to a conventional 30A Schottky diode, achieved with no increase in leakage current. This allows designers to meet the most stringent energy-efficiency standard requirements including Energy Star 6.0 without the expense of using synchronous rectification techniques. Typical application areas are in smartphone and tablet battery chargers, compact adapters and switched-mode power supplies.

• Stable leakage current over reverse voltage

• Low forward voltage drop

• Excellent high frequency operation
