Siemens 6AG213 Series Communication Module, For Use With ET 200SP - 6AG21376AA014BA0

This communication module provides serial connectivity for ET 200SP automation hardware in demanding environments. It offers rail‑compatible mounting with protective conformal coating and supports multiple serial interfaces for integration into industrial and rail applications. The module is designed for use on BU type A0 base units and functions within extended temperature ranges suitable for rolling‑stock and stationary installations.

Features & Benefits

• RS‑485 at up to 250kbit/s enables long‑distance data links
• RS‑232 supports 115.2kbit/s for short‑range device connections
• RS‑422 offers 4‑wire full‑duplex links for reliable throughput
• Telegram buffer 4kbyte allows queuing of up to 255 messages
• Protected electronics withstand -40 to +70 °C operation range
• Low power draw 31mA reduces load on 24V DC supplies

**Applications**

• Suitable for serial device gateways in factory automation
• Used with field I/O racks in ET 200SP installations
• Ideal for MODBUS RTU Master and slave communications
• Used for railway on‑board telemetry and signalling interfaces
• Suitable for integrating legacy PLC peripherals over Freeport

Which supply voltage must be provided for operation?

It runs from a 24V DC supply with an allowable input range of 19.2V to 28.8V and includes reverse‑polarity protection.

How are diagnostics and status conveyed to operators?

The module provides multi‑colour LEDs for supply, diagnostic status and separate transmit/receive indicators to assist troubleshooting.

What protocol flexibility does it support for serial links?

It includes Freeport, 3964(R), USS and MODBUS RTU with configurable character framing and parity options to match connected equipment.

Is there electrical isolation between field interfaces and the backplane?

Yes, the Interface is isolated from the backplane bus and has been type‑tested to 750V DC.
