The Broadcom Automotive Photovoltaic Driver with R2Coupler Isolation is specifically designed to drive high voltage MOSFETs and/or IGBTs. The device consists of an AlGaAs infrared light-emitting diode input stage optically coupled to an output detector circuit. The detector consists of a photovoltaic diode array and a turn off circuit. The photovoltaic driver is turned on upon a minimum input current of 3 mA through the input LED. The photovoltaic driver is turned off upon an input voltage of 0.6 V or less.
