This heavy-duty power connector insert provides a rugged electrical Interface for cable-mounted power systems in industrial settings. Designed as a male, straight connector insert, it supplies up to 40 A at 690V for demanding automation, electrical and mechanical installations while maintaining environmental protection suited to site and plant conditions.

Features & Benefits

• 40 A current rating for high-current distribution
• 690V voltage capability for industrial power circuits
• 18-contact arrangement increasing connection density
• Copper alloy silver-plated contacts reducing contact resistance
• IP65 ingress protection enabling use in dusty or wet zones
• Cable-mount format accepting 2.5 mm² to 8 mm² conductors

**Applications**

• Suitable for power distribution in factory automation panels
• Ideal for power feeds to industrial drives and motors
• Used with heavy-duty enclosures requiring sealed connectors
• Can be used for interconnections in machinery power modules
• Suitable for retrofit of high-current cable assemblies

What contact material is used and how does it affect conductivity?

Contacts are MADE from a copper alloy and finished with silver plating to improve conductivity and maintain low contact resistance under high-current conditions.

How many poles are available and what layout do they employ?

The insert provides a 19-pole format arranged across two rows to accommodate mixed power and auxiliary connections within a Compact footprint.

Which wire sizes are compatible with the cable-mounted insert?

Conductor sizes from 2.5 mm² up to 8 mm² can be terminated, allowing a range of cable gauges for different current demands.

What mounting orientation and environmental class does it support?

It is configured in a straight orientation for inline cabling and rated IP65 to protect against dust ingress and water jets.

Does the insert meet dielectric or insulation standards?

The product conforms to IEC 60664-1 requirements governing insulation coordination for electrical equipment.

Note

The 221-1808 to 221-1791 series of crimp contacts utilise contact extraction tool - stock no. 313-6613. All others utilise extraction tool stock no. 114-7728

Approvals

UL, CSA, SEV

Warning

These connectors should not be mated or unmated under electrical load. Connectors of the same or different types arranged in a line should be polarised to prevent the possibility of wrong connection.
