Importance of high quality crimping
When a crimping tool is used on a terminal, two crimps take place at the same time. One is the electrical connection between the conductor and the terminal. The other is the crimping of the insulation, which relieves vibration and stress. It is important that the electrical connection is gas-tight with no voids between the wire strands and the lug. If there are voids, corrosion can occur, causing resistance and excessive heat that damages the electrical connection. Using a good quality crimping tool will ensure a complete gas tight crimp, preventing future deterioration of the electrical connection and insulation failure.
