To mount your tapered bore bearing to a shaft, first set this adapter sleeve and the bearing on the shaft. Attach the lock nut and check the level of clearance between the bearing and sleeve with feeler gauges. Use a hook spanner to tighten the bearing, then remove the lock nut and fix the lock washer. Slot the tabs of the washer into the grooves of the lock nut to achieve a firm fit.
