3M Ceramic Sanding Disc, P80 Grit, 100mm Diameter - 782C Series - 89721

Fit your grinder with this sanding disc from 3M to speed up the preparation of metalwork. The closed-coat disc is made with densely-packed ceramic minerals to quickly and cleanly sand hard materials such as aluminium and stainless steel. These strong grains are formed in prisms for easy cutting and are precisely shaped for slow and even disc wear. Use this wheel for tough deburring and weld removal tasks or for consistent blending and surface finishes.

• Medium-grade disc with a grit size of P80 for efficient material removal, paint preparation and chamfering

• Made with stiff fibre backing and a strong resin bond to increase durability and reduce the frequency of disc changes

• Punched with a centre hole, ready for fixing to your grinder

Applications

• Metal fabrication

• Automotive manufacture and repair

• Building and construction

• Marine industry

Using the 3M™ 782C outperforms conventional ceramic discs. Designed to be used with a 3M™ backing pad with an angle grinder or sander. This fibre wheel is well-suited for edge chamfering bevelling, deburring and weld removal on mostly carbon steel.

Are ceramic abrasive discs better than silicon carbide discs?

Both types of material make good sanding discs for stock removal tasks. However, this ceramic disc is well-suited to working on mild steel whereas silicon carbide discs are a better choice for harder metals, glass and stone.

Optimised Cutting

Using 3M™ precision-shaped grain technology to offer a higher initial and durability to outlast conventional ceramic fibre discs. The grit wears evenly and with the abrasive staying cooler and sharper, the PSG abrasive lasts significantly longer than conventional ceramic discs. These discs will help to step up production with an improved output on both light and heavy stock removal.

Features and Benefits

Cuts hard and fast to grind metals like stainless steel and high nickel alloys;3M Precision Shaped Grain yields higher cut rates and excels at heavyweight applications;Grinding aid minimises grinding temperatures for heat-sensitive alloys;Reduce costs with long-lasting abrasive - completes more parts than conventional discs;Durable and tear resistant

Typical Applications

The 3M™ 782C heavy-duty fibre discs are great for weld removals, grinding and blending large and small metal areas. This could occur in industries such as farm and construction, automotive, ship and boat building, metal fabrication.

FAQ's

How do I know which fibre disc to use on what substrate?

The 782C disc is for use on carbon steel, the 787C is used for stainless steel and other non-ferrous alloys such as aluminium and titanium (Sold at RS).

Would you be able to use these discs on wood?

These abrasive discs are designed to be used on metal and are not recommended to be used on wood.

What safety requirements should I observe?

When grinding metal or sanding, appropriate personal protection equipment should be worn. Gloves, eye protection and even respiratory protection are essential PPE for general purpose grinding and polishing applications.

For safe operation of an angle grinder, be sure you have participated in appropriate training and are aware of all safety advice relevant to the material you are working on.
