MCP1623/1624 Synchronous Boost Converter

The Microchip MCP1623 and MCP1624 are Adjustable, Fixed Frequency, Synchronous Step-Up DC-DC Converters. Primarily they are designed to offer a compact and highly efficient power supply solution for PIC Microcontrollers in one-, two- and three-cell battery powered applications. The desired output voltage of the device is set by the application of a small external resistor divider.

The design allows the regulator to start up without high inrush current or output voltage overshoot from a low 0.65 V input. Combined is a low-resistance N-Channel Boost Switch and Synchronous P-Channel Switch to offer high efficiency. All compensation and protection circuitry is integrated into the device to minimise the required external components.

Also featured is a Load Disconnect mode that provides input to output isolation while disabled. This mode consumes less than 1 μA of input current.
