Hacksaw Blades

What is it?Hacksaw blades are made from metal and are fixed into a hacksaw handle. Blades come with a measurement in TPI (teeth per inch). The pitch of the teeth ranges from 14 TPI to 32 TPI. The lower the TPI (teeth per inch) the larger the gap between the teeth and the longer the tooth. The higher the TPI (teeth per inch) the smaller the gap between the teeth and the shorter the tooth. The type of metal the blade is made from and the TPI determines the usage and the thickness of material to be cut. Standard blade lengths are 10 in to 12 in (250 mm to 350 mm). What does it do?Hacksaw blades are primarily designed for cutting metals but can also cut other materials such as plastic and wood.14 TPI – Excellent performance for cutting metals at least 1.8 mm thick18 TPI – Good performance for cutting metals at least 1.4 mm thick24 TPI - Suitable for cutting metals at least 1.1 mm thick32 TPI – Perfect for cutting metals at least 0.8 mm thickApplicationsEngineers, plumbers and electricians use hacksaw blades to cut plastic water pipes, metal and plastic conduit, tubing and trunking. Gardeners, farmers and site services use hacksaw blades for cutting, trimming and pruning trees bushes and shrubs.Types of bladesTungsten steel, Carbon steel, HSS (high-speed steel)
