RS Components Exceeds 300,000 Download Milestone for its 3D CAD Model Programme

Figures demonstrate how RS has been providing relentless support to engineers with free online 3D design tools

RS Components (RS), the trading brand of Electrocomponents plc (LSE:ECM), the world's leading high service distributor of electronics and maintenance products, has recorded over 300,000 downloads of 3D CAD models from the RS Components website, just two years from the launch of the 3D CAD programme. The number of downloads in Asia Pacific has hit over 52, 000 downloads with a record of over 22,000 downloads by China, making it the country with the largest number of downloads in the region.

The RS Components 3D catalogue now exceeds 30,000 models from more than 40 leading manufacturers, with new additions being progressively introduced to the library. These models are available for download in most 3D CAD formats, and are accessible via the 3D CAD microsite or the ModelSource component library on DesignSpark.  This programme was launched two years ago, with the aim of providing engineers over the world with the access to an extensive library of 3D models at no cost. 

"The rate at which engineers are using our web resources as their source for 3D models has really taken off, and in the past twelve months we have logged double the amount of downloads as in the previous year to reach this impressive figure," said Mark Cundle, Head of Technical Marketing, RS Components. "Our data analysis shows that the uptake is truly global with downloads in Asia Pacific especially China exceeding our expectations.  This is evidence that engineers in virtually every country around the world are increasingly starting to trust and rely on RS for support with their designs."
